Highlands Pool Phase 3 Membership Survey

Today, the Governor announced that Virginia will move to Phase 3 on July 1. This is great news for the aquatics industry. The governor also released the detailed guidelines for outdoor pools in his industry specific guidelines.

Virginia Forward Phase 3 Guidelines:

Indoor and outdoor swimming pools may be open at up to 75% occupancy

Ten feet of physical distance must be maintained between patrons not of the same household.

Free swim is allowed as long as ten feet of social distance is maintained between members who are not of the same household.

SwimRVA is ready to get swimmers back in the water in a safe and healthy manner, consistent with Virginia’s Phase 3 guidelines.

HOWEVER, there must be enough interest/memberships sold in order to cover the cost of operating for the summer for the owners to decide to open the pool. To make the decision we are asking all former pool members as well as interested families to complete the following survey. The results of the survey will dictate whether the pool will open this summer.

The survey deadline will be Saturday, June 27th at 5PM.

An announcement regarding whether the pool will open will be made on Sunday, June 28th.

If the pool opens, it will be on Wednesday, July 1st.

BEFORE TAKING THE SURVEY, please read through all of the following operating rules that will be in place. Please also reference the attached map of the pools to understand the rules. These rules will change if Virginia moves to Phase 4 of reopening. It is not known when or if that will happen this summer.

Please click here for the survey.

Reservation Rules

Each pool will be sectioned off into zones. Each zone will have its own assigned seating area on the deck. There will be a total of 12 zones (See Map. Baby Pool – 1, Big Pool – 6, Secondary Pool – 5)

Zones will be reserved for a 2 hour time slot.

The last 10 minutes of the reservation, the pool will be cleared; families will gather their belongings and disinfect their area before the next group is allowed to enter.

There will be one lap lane which is limited to three swimmers at any given time. Lap swimming is defined as continuous movement up and down a lap lane.

There will be NO adult swim times.

There is a limit of one reservation per household, per day for zones.

If a timeslot is NOT reserved 24 hours beforehand, a second reservation can be made.

Zones are limited to members of the same household. There is a limit of 10 people per zone.

Members will be limited to their assigned swimming and seating zone. The diving well is shared use and is NOT available for reservation.

Restrooms will be open and will be disinfected every hour.

All furniture must be disinfected at the start AND end of your reserved time. You, the user, are responsible for disinfecting your used furniture. Disinfection materials will be available for use.

Dive Well Rules

The diving well is shared use for all members.

The diving well is limited to 3 swimmers at a time. Swimmers will jump from the diving board or edge of the pool and immediately swim to the ladder and exit the pool.

Swimmers waiting to use the dive well will form a line distancing 10 feet from other swimmers and members on deck.

Sunbathing Rules

Sunbathers may use a single chair in the designated section (see map). Sunbathing chairs (single chairs as well as loungers) are all first come, first served. They may not be moved.

Sunbathers may use the diving well to get into the water or the lap swim lane and must follow the same rules as swimmers using the diving well or lap lane. Both areas are limited to three people in the water at any given time.

All chairs will be placed on the pool deck by staff and will be spaced 10 ft apart. Chairs are not permitted to be moved by users.

When Arriving at the Pool…

All patrons must adhere to a verbal health screening before entering the pool area.

Masks must be worn when checking in, when speaking with associates, and when using restrooms.

Play Structures and Equipment

The slide and mushroom will remain CLOSED per Phase 3 Guidelines.

Equipment and toys cannot be shared between groups.

Individual floats will be permitted inside your assigned zone provided they do not create an excessive blind spot for life safety.
